3D-Apparat 720° XL

The 3D Apparat is a complete 720° photo studio. It combines all functional elements such as recording technology, rotary table and image processing in a compact, scalable design. We created the 3D Apparat 720 XL in its current size so that you can capture objects up to 30 cm in height. However, the 3D Apparat still gets through your doors and fits space-savingly in a room. Hence, the 3D Apparat is made for mobile use in a few simple steps!

However, since its functionality does not depend on the size, we can change and adapt the design according to your wishes. Don’t hesitate to contact us!

With the 3D Apparat you can capture objects with the help of photogrammetry. Hence, apart from photo-realistic textures, very accurate 3D model data are available. The calibration of the model is accomplished automatically. The object simply has to be positioned in the 3D device and the capturing process has to be started via touch screen. The result is 3D data in many selectable formats.

The contactless capture of the object from all sides is unique – even from below. Complete 3D models are created in a single work step.

The Package – 3D-Apparat 720° XL:

The variable design includes all components for optimal product photography, which is the basis for a perfect 3D calculation or a 2D web presentation. Typical errors that can occur when taking photos but are very time-consuming in connection with a high throughput rate of 3D scans are minimized by the fully automatic system. This creates perfectly cropped, properly exposed and clear photos in just one go, around the object as well as from above and below.

Note: The 3D Apparat is extremely low-maintenance as we paid much attention to the price-performance ratio when designing it. For example, we use the relatively simple Canon D200 for photography for it offers optimal resolution and quality for this standardized studio environment. So you benefit from cost savings. Should any component be defective, you can replace it at any time, independent of suppliers. That gives you the highest possible flexibility and security. Of course we can also use other cameras according to your requirements.

High End Photogrammetry-Server

To render a 3D object from these photos requires a lot of computing power. Our high-end workstation is perfectly geared to this job and (in the truest sense of the word) is waiting for the 3D Apparat’s data. As soon as the 3D Apparat automatically places the photos on the server, the next processes start.

Note: If you are already using a data center or fast 3D workstations, we can deliver the 3D Apparat without the workstation and connect it to your existing infrastructure. Furthermore, the 3D calculation can take place at a different location than the shots with the 3D Apparat. That allows you the highest possible flexibility!

3D Software & Services

For 3D calculations we use Agisoft Metashape Pro. This standard software allows us to define automated processes and it turns the photos into 3D objects. At the end of the calculation, the project data will be saved with cropped (masked) photos, the originals, the Metashape project file and of course the 3D object in *.obj format.

Even if the complete package is fully automated, there are limits and challenges in photogrammetry. It is important that you are fundamentally aware of those and can respond to them. Hence, we will train you and your team in detail when delivering your 3D device. We will show you how to push the boundaries to a maximum.

Note: If you are already using PhotoScan/Metashape, we can of course take this into account in our offer and connect the 3D device with your license.
